Oscillator
An oscillator is an indicator that moves back and forth within a fixed range, usually shown in a separate panel below the price chart. RSI and the MACD histogram are common examples. Because they stay bounded, oscillators are used to gauge momentum and how stretched a move is rather than the trend itself.
