Paper trading is running a strategy with fake money in real-time market conditions, so trades are simulated but the prices and timing are live. It sits between a backtest and live trading, letting you watch a strategy behave without risking capital. It cannot perfectly capture real fills and emotions, but it surfaces problems a backtest can miss.
