Parameter
A parameter is an adjustable setting in a strategy, such as a moving average length, a stop distance, or a threshold value. Each parameter you add gives the strategy another knob to turn. More knobs make it easier to fit history perfectly and easier to overfit, so fewer, well-chosen parameters are usually safer.
